Family Night
For Instructional Technology I have chosen to do my project on Family Night. This project is made for a first grade class to bring their parents for an hour after school and go to different stations to play games on the iPads. Each station focuses on a different learning style; math, reading, art, and a wildcard station. I have researched 12 different apps for this Family Night. Out of those apps I have narrowed it down and selected four apps, one for each learning style. The first app I have selected is Monster Math. It is a fun way for kids to want to play math. The next app I have selected Homer. Homer is a great way to enhance children's reading. It is proven to increase reading scores by 74%. For art I have chosen an app called Mini Monet. It allows you to either create your own picture or decorate an existing picture. The final app I selected was Tiny Spy. It is a fun app to use your detective skills to find hidden objects. I then made a directions sheet for each station using those apps followed by a quick three question assessment per app to see what the children learned from playing these apps. I really hope that this Family Night would be a success. Not only do I want the kids to have fun while learning through these app, I also want the parents to have an opportunity to get involved with their child's education. It is important for children to have a good support system while trying to excel in their learning.
